Become an Animal Angel!

1. Use the Web! After you’ve registered at www.racefortherescues.org your Personal Event Headquarters has suite of online tools for you to use to spread the word and motivate friends and family to help our cause. (Read "Your Online Guide" below for more tips!)

2. Start early: Do not procrastinate.

 3. Educate your donors.
  · About The Rescue Train
  · About the fact that approximately 700 dogs and   cats a week are euthanized in Los Angeles 6 city shelters.
  · About your personal quest to complete a 5K and to raise funds to fight over pet population in Los Angles.

4. Make potential donors aware of the benefits of contributing.
  · A chance to help save the life of a dog or cat facing euthanasia at a city shelter or from life on the street.
  · A tax-deductible donation

5. Follow through: Send reminders to potential donors.

6. Recruit volunteers: They will help you raise funds.
  · Friends, family members, co-workers and significant others can be of great help in spreading the word about what you are doing.

7.  Give back to donors.
  · Wear their logo, bake them cookies, send a personalized thank you letter.

8. Ask BIG before going small: Think corporate and big money
  · Suggest higher levels of giving. Most people won't do it, but there will be one or two who will because you asked.

9. Stay positive. Keep a good attitude. Remember the reason.
  · Fundraising comes with a lot of "No's." Forget those and keep going for the "Yes's."

Our site, www.racefortherescues.org can help you reach all of your fundraising goals. My Race Page is where participants use a suite of online tools to spread the word and motivate friends and family to help our cause. Each new registrant can use his or her username and password to access the protected personal headquarters section of the website.

FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO REACH YOUR GOAL:

Step 1: Register Online at www.racefortherescues.org. You can register as an individual, join a team or start a new team.

Step 2: Build Your Web page – You can customize your own personal page with "point and click" artwork and photos before spreading the word. You can edit and view your personal page.

Step 2A (Team Captains Only): Build You Team Page - Make edits to your team page including images and text

Step 3: Send Email – You can use this comprehensive email tool to spread the word and send emails to friends and family. Send your email campaign to friends and family encouraging them to participate and support your efforts. Use our template letters or customize your own.

·  Send Email - Use the email center to compose, preview and send your email to your friends and family.

·  Address Book Import - Import your address book

·  Email History Log - Review the success from your past emails and track how your friends and family are reacting.

Step 4: View & Enter Offline Donations - You will need to enter cash/checks received using a simple secure donation form to keep up-to- date fundraising data. (Please turn these checks in on race day, after you have entered the donation info into the system)
